"Universe of Passion" by Grace B. Richard is a unique blend of science fiction and romance set in the year 2215. The story follows Avery Cyan, a passionate young director's assistant with big dreams. Fifty years after an alien race called the Zard came to Earth, inspired by an old erotic movie, they join humans in creating erotic films. Avery, who dreams of directing and falling in love, finds herself working in this world of sex while cherishing her favorite book, "The Princess Bride." With well-developed characters and a compelling narrative, the book offers an engaging read for fans of both genres.
At the center of this chaotic new world is Avery Cyan, a passionate and ambitious young woman who works as a director’s assistant in the adult film industry. Avery’s life is set against the backdrop of a society that is both driven by and desensitized to sex, yet she longs for something deeper: true love. In a world where love has become rare and fleeting, Avery’s dream of romance feels increasingly distant. However, she finds solace in her favorite book, The Princess Bride, and in the friendships she has with a diverse and eccentric group of individuals: Truffle, a plant alien; Jack, an android; her adopted father, a Zard chef who would do anything to protect her; and her colleagues, including Candy and Ted, two famous porn stars who love and safeguard her.
I really enjoyed reading this book as it was packed with steamy events!
Universe of Passion brings readers into a wild world where aliens, the Zard, arrive on a struggling Earth captivated by human love and connection. They’re not here to invade but to join humans in creating galaxy-wide entertainment, sparking a split between Earth supporters and Pro Earth activists. Avery Cyan, a young assistant, dreams of true love amidst this unusual setup, balancing ambition with her search for something real. The concept is original and fun—aliens arriving for peace and romance is definitely a twist! Perfect for readers who enjoy a blend of sci-fi, romance, and a bit of humor in an unconventional setup.
Avery, the MC in this book, is a good character with a good narrative voice. The plotline for this book is rather dramatic. I thought it was more drama than romance or erotica. There was a romantic element, though. And there were definitely some hot sex scenes. The world building, with the alien race arriving, is pretty good too. Overall, it's not a bad read and I recommend checking it out.
