Rosa McCoy’s 13 Rules for Women: How to Live Life as a High Value Woman offers sage advice that is easy to apply, builds self-esteem, and teaches women how to value themselves. With each chapter, McCoy guides readers into a mode of self-discovery. She starts with advice on how to find your value and even know what that means in terms of self worth and identity. This, in itself, is a value lesson and an excellent way to kick off her book. She continues by explaining the importance of setting boundaries and how to do so. I personally, appreciated her section on how to say no without feeling guilt — something that I think a lot of women struggle with. But this lesson isn’t to say that McCoy doesn’t express value in building up others. She discusses the value in providing kindness and influence. In contrast to a dictator, whom she politely doesn’t mention, McCoy expresses that an influential woman finds true strength from within, builds trust, forges connections, and shows empathy. 13 Rules is a must read for women of today.
