I was intrigued by the setting of this story, since I’ve spent some time in Mumbai. It is about Kabir, a journalist, and Ananya, a police detective setting out to solve the murder of their friend Riya, a government minister and activist. They discover corruption among powerful people in high business and finance. These discoveries bring personal danger and lead to a series of violent encounters. They finally discover the cause and solution of the murder. This a very fast-moving story with constant action throughout. In some respects, details of characterisation and background give way to the rapid pace, however it keeps your attention. A refreshing concept for a detective novel to take place in such an exotic setting.
Loved the fast pace and Mumbai backdrop. Kabir and Ananya are a sharp duo!
Atmospheric and layered, this mystery pulls you in from the first scene. The setting adds real texture to the story, and the characters, especially Kabir and Ananya, feel grounded and sharp. A good mix of suspense, cultural depth, and emotional weight makes it more than just a whodunit. If you enjoy slow-burning mysteries that unravel piece by piece, this one’s worth a read.
