On the Precipice was an exciting read. There was so much political tension that I coundn't help comparing it to our present political scene. Looking forward to reading the rest of the seried.
MacMahon begins her novel, On The Precipice, by introducing us to Raelynn Mabry, a graduate picked by Lord Regent Liston as his intern. Liston is a man with a goal. He wants to win the election and become the new Head of the Assembly. If he does, his desire to ally his Imperium government with the Civitan government against the Core government would be almost guaranteed. However, he has a character flaw. He’s an alcoholic. Each chapter is told by one of about a dozen different point-of-view characters, and there are many other characters as well. So, we spend time with many different people, all with different agendas. MacMahon is an exceptional writer with a broad vocabulary and an impressive style. The novel is slow to develop, but when I learned there was an upcoming election, I wanted to know if Liston would win.
