A simple, but very important, lesson is learned by Sophia, a cute little bear who wants only to help her woodland friends. She soon discovers there is a right way and a wrong way to go about helping them. The Bible is full of life lessons, and this one is tucked away in a single verse in the book of Proverbs. Kudos to the author for bringing it to life! The illustrations are beautiful too!
This book was relatable and cute with a good lesson, what more could you ask for?
"Sophia The Bear and The Meddling Mayhem" by Gabriel Alvarez is about a sweet bear who tries to help her friends but ends up in hot water. I love that the book is inspired by scripture, Proverbs 26:17, and teaches kids about respecting boundaries and knowing when to stay out of others' arguments. The story is engaging, and the illustrations are cute. I like that the author includes discussion points to spark important conversations about empathy and conflict, which makes it a great conversation starter for parents/grandparents.
Sophia the Bear and the Meddling Mayhem is a beautifully illustrated and heartwarming story that introduces children to the wisdom of Proverbs 26:17. This book is perfect for family storytime, Sunday School lessons, or homeschool curriculum. Through Sophia’s adventure, kids learn the important lesson of knowing when to help and when to step back, making it an excellent tool for teaching social skills and biblical values. The discussion questions at the end are a great bonus, encouraging thoughtful conversations with your little ones. Highly recommended for parents and educators alike!
I really like this book for kids. The story is written well, the lesson is communicated effectively, and the book art is really good. Props to both the author and illustrator on this one. One thing that I really appreciate was how Gabriel cleverly put discussion questions at the end of the book. This allows either a teacher or parent to have a dialogue with the kids about the story. It also helps make the story stick. So I have to give this 5 stars because it’s more than a story, it’s an experience- and that’s precisely how you make good children's books.
This is a nice book with endearing characters in a school setting with a goal to teach the lesson in a Bible Proverb. Even with a good intention to help two arguing friends things got worse for Sophia the kind Bear and the quarelling Bunny and his friend, all ended up in the office of the Owl, the Principal. Not to meddle in other people's conflicts, step in only when asked. Many times people need space to work out their own differences and conflicts. Yet the story did not not go far enough to teach when courage and compassion is needed to intervene, like if someone physically attacking, verbally bullying or sexually harassing someone you know or near you at home, school or work unfairly.
I got this book for my nephew It has lovely illustrations and the story is teaching children about social skills as well as friendship. Its a lovely story and simple enough for young readers to follow.
