This is the second graphic novel I’ve read from this author. While I usually refrain from this genre, I must admit to being impressed by the author’s graphics talent and his embedded allegorical messages, in this case the blending of a carnival’s evil force (depicted by a clown) with the lead character’s dreams and painful real world, all of it leading to a series of graphic images resembling a bit of “Pi,” Stephen Kings “It,” and the author’s interpretation of both. My only criticism is the author’s tendency to “go over the top” with his images of brutality which tend to detract from his intended message. Worthy of 4 stars.
