This is so much more than a journal. There are 11 chapters discussing why and how to utilize a gratitude journal for self-discovery and empowerment. After the 11 chapters there are 200 journal pages that begin with prompts for something you are grateful for, a daily personal affirmation, the best thing that happened today and a reason to be proud, followed by plenty of space for personal reflection and journaling. Very well done.
Nice journal! The author begins by explaining the benefits of gratitude, including mental and emotional well-being - reducing stress, anxiety, and even depression. It's actually training your brain. You'd think a concept as simple as gratitude wouldn't need explaining, but most people really don't think about it much. For some, it comes naturally; for others, it must be cultivated. This book does a wonderful job of helping you do just that. (It is a joint effort between a husband and wife, a wonderful example of a good marriage.) The actual journaling pages are beautiful - filled with flowers and butterflies and bold lines on which to write, and of course, a chrysalis - representative of the change we undergo when cultivating gratitude and the promise of something beautiful emerging as a result. Each day includes prompts to help make it easier for you.
I liked this thought provoking book, that teaches us the benefits of writing our own daily gratitude journal. The practice is proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. There is a touching personal note from the author, who co-wrote this journal with his late wife Georgina, explaining their findings come from personal experiences, along with the proven science behind adult behavioural psychology. Loved the fact the reader is gifted their own beautiful blank journal. Would recommend. Carol McAllister
This is a motivational step-by-step guide, helping women find mental and emotional well-being through gratitude journaling. By advocating self-care through self-reflection, the author focuses on the positive and transformative aspects of gratitude. The focus is on tying gratitude to the reader's core beliefs and values, with daily journal 'guide-sheets' containing key prompts to help with the process. The journal is well presented, with the 'How To - Why To' section up front clearing explaining the 'how' and 'why'. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to find a path towards self-reflection and empowerment.
