You HAVE to read this book. It's this awesome sci-fi novel about this chick named Skylar who dreams of being a starship captain but kind of blows it and ends up joining the Marines instead. Anyway, she gets thrown into this intense battle against these alien lizard creatures called basilisks. They're seriously creepy – super fast, super agile, and their bite turns people into mindless zombies. The whole plot twists and turns, and Skylar has to overcome her self-doubt and actually become the leader she always wanted to be. The action is non-stop, and the author really brings the alien world to life. You can almost feel the heat and the danger. I loved how Skylar grows throughout the story and learns to trust her instincts. It's a really inspiring and thrilling read. You won't be able to put it down!
