This is a slow developing story. But the author manages to keep you engaged with foreshadowing. Then, once the story gets going its mystical and entertaining. Laura is a pretty solid main character and she meet some really interesting characters along the way. I enjoyed how the author tied this into Laura's past. The world building was pretty good. Overall, I think this is a good read, especially for a young adult. I recommend it mostly for younger adults but adults who enjoy contemporary fantasy will enjoy it too.
