This book is mostly letters sent from Leon, a Vietnam Vet, back to his family in Iowa. I enjoyed reading these letters, which told of what it was like to be there. Leon was mostly there in a supporting role, which is something you don’t often get to read about. There were also stories about people in other roles. Some of the book was sad. Some of it was just interesting. It was scary to hear about the communication guys who were so targeted by Viet Cong because they were always close to the commanders. Overall, I’m glad I read it. I feel like it added to my knowledge of what it was like to be there. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the Vietnam war.
