This is a well-written recovery workbook that guide you to being able to break from overthinking and worry. I really valued the 7 science-backed tools the author presented in an easy to understand format. It's also packed with holistic recovery techniques that the reader can really benefit from. The exercises and reflection prompts helped me sort out my emotional triggers, something I always struggle with. This is a must read!
The Anxious Attachment Recovery Workbook is full of useful, grounded content. Five stars for what the authors are trying to do. The exercises are thoughtful, the explanations are clear, and it’s obvious the authors have real experience helping people with anxious attachment. If you’re serious about growth, this book gives you plenty to work with. But the Kindle formatting? Two stars at best. The layout makes it surprisingly hard to use. Exercises are buried mid-page instead of starting on their own. There’s space under the questions — but it’s a Kindle. You can’t write in it. And there’s no clear guidance to skip to the downloadable workbook, which is just as clunky. It’s a pain to navigate, which ironically triggered the very anxiety the book is trying to help soothe. Also… “therapist approved”? That sounds sketchy. One therapist? Their own therapist? It’s clearly not approved by any editor who’s familiar with ebook layouts and ebook formatting! Great content. Poor execution. If you’re going to read it, go with the paperback — or prepare for a frustrating ride.
What sets this workbook apart is its balance between empathy and practicality. The Runas recognize the pain and frustration that anxious attachment brings, but they provide realistic solutions that readers can implement right away. The workbook doesn’t just address the symptoms of anxious attachment; it empowers readers to transform their mindset, set healthy boundaries, and cultivate secure relationships.
There are so many great things about this book. It touches on a variety of topics, not just anxious attachment. I love the parts about jealousy and the different strategies offered to identify triggers. It's encouraging to hear that you can actually rewire your system to respond in healthier ways, get emotionally secure, and have the confidence to put healthy boundaries in place. I feel like I got months of therapy in one compact book.
This is like a regular book with a ton of workbook questions. Overwhelming.
