So, spicy romance is not my usual go-to genre. But after my wife could hardly put the kindle down, I checked it out. I read a few pages and the next thing I knew, I felt like a younger version of myself that binged books at all hours. What a great read. Before I knew it, I was done the book and it was 4 AM. The character arcs, banter, heart, and spice mix to make a wonderful story to escape into. My wife is really looking forward to the next book. I may just need to check that one out too...
The perfect spicy, slow-burn escape. Jilly and Cord have hilarious banter, off-the-charts chemistry, and just the right amount of emotional depth. I loved watching their “just friends” plan totally unravel. A fun, flirty summer read you’ll want to finish in one sitting!
I enjoyed reading this book, the characters are greatly developed, and a great story line. The love and tension between the characters were both endearing and sexy. I highly recommend reading this book. A++_
The chemistry sizzles from the start, but what truly makes this story shine is the honest portrayal of two people at different life stages trying to navigate their desires, fears, and vulnerabilities. With snarky banter, laugh-out-loud moments, and heartwarming depth, this story isn’t just about falling in love, it’s about the courage to rewrite your plans and take a chance on imperfect timing.
Jill and Cord fell in love and knew they were meant to be together. That's the way love is supposed to be. And it gets hot at times. That's the way lovegoes. Great book.
This one was fun with a ton of personality. A little Ms Grumpy and Mr Reluctant sunshine. Cord and Jilly sparked from the start, and Nick and George were right along for the ride. Jillian aka “George” (not her name tag) has been living her not-quite-best life after a more than disappointing father disappearance act (shhh, don’t tell her, she’s really into not being able to afford name brand cereal and cardboard-like PB&J). When George meets the sexy older guy who does not live for her version of horribly made tea - he calls her by the wrong name, and receives some signature Baltimore’s best customer service sass in exchange for his polite apology. And the spark is on. Just for the summer, Jillian insists as Cord finds ways of sewing bits and pieces of himself into her life and desires and horrendous day: her heart. She will not need or love a patient, caring man who tries to take care of her, but always letting her decide how much or how far she’ll let him in. Because of course the best way to get revenge on the one man who should have loved her unconditionally, but left, is to punish herself to not have a good and truly honest and loving relationship with someone who is an adult. And one capable of loving commitment. Yep. Jilly has life all figured out. It’s really too bad she was subjected to the torment and delicious pasta and all the wonderful ways Cord told her he loves her. One wants forever and the other’s a flight risk. Who will win?
This book surprised me with how great it was! I don't always like romance novels because sometimes I feel authors have no idea what they're doing, but this was one of those books that was wonderful from the start! I think she's a very talented author and would recommend 'A Barista That Doesn't Drink Coffee!'
