The author opens with examples of stereotypes, i.e., incorrect assumptions that everyone in a group has the same feelings, beliefs, and physical characteristics. He explores the sources of stereotyping, e.g., the media, advertising, and generational prejudices. Emphasis is placed on the harm done by stereotyping. Also the importance of respecting each person’s individuality to the point of defending them against stereotyping. It concludes with an appeal to reject stereotyping to build new friendships with people of all races, beliefs, ethnicities, and physical appearances. This is a good self-help workbook that is interactive as the author challenges the reader to reflect on their personal observations of stereotyping in their environment and how best to defuse them. Five star effort.
