The book The Woke Workplace: Mastering Woke Culture, Enhancing Productivity, Protecting Your Business contains a comprehensive practical guide for employers and business leaders on how to recognize & respond correctly in our present state of cultural over sensitivity. As the lines get blurrier in an age when being liked and getting stuff done seem ever more mutually exclusive, this book is a stark reminder of how to navigate those two extremes — with precision. The author does a really good job of representing how difficult being put in that position can be for many business owners and managers these days knowing they have to operate within, essentially, an awareness culture where doing the right thing or even what is perceived as the right think by one person may not resonate with another. No matter one's position in the boardroom, The Woke Workplace is a must-read for anyone seeking to safely guide their team through today's complex and ever-changing cultural currents while preserving professional ties; and keeping your office off page six (or worse). A must-read book by business owners, managers, and HR professionals who wish to step up as a leader in a woke world.
Although I'm not a big fan of the term "Woke" as it has been misused as a way to reflect diversity and inclusion, this book does a good job demystifying this concept and bring more common sense to how companies should build a more diverse and inclusive environment for their employees. Building trust, open communication channels and policy that help employees to feel safe are solid recommendations. Even do I didn't agreed with all the points expressed, I feel this book gives a good view on key topics that most leaders will need to face in the coming years.
