In the alternate dimension for supernatural folklore known as Parabola, Olivia Cult, a fifteen year old witch whom is bonded to an inter-dimensional demon , Lilith , uses her magic as a detective for a paranormal police force, L.I.F.E, to combat the forces of evil. Throughout her time working as a witch detective , Olivia longs for the chance to live amongst the human world once more and reconnect with her estranged family whom disowned her several years prior for embracing her mystical lineage. Little does she know, the young enchantress will soon recieve the chance to live amongst the human world once again . But not for the reasons she had hoped. A sinister occult of folklore known as The Blessing incompasitate the majority of L.I F.E and kidnap Olivia's captain in order to shatter the barrier between Parabola and the human world to wreak amongst both realms.It is up to Olivia and the surviving agents of L.I.F.E to stop The Blessing from bringing Armageddon to reality. All while being bond L.I F.E's most daunting rule for their agents: No direct interaction with human before, during, or after a case is solved. Including their human relatives. Will Olivia be able to have her cake and eat it too?

This book has a unique mix of magic, action, and amusing banter between characters, which maintains engagement and entertainment throughout. The pace of the story maintains interest, as does the world-building and character-building that highlight the uniqueness of the story. The only aspect that needs addressing is the errors in spelling, punctuation, and the layout of the novel, which do let down the whole experience. If polished, this would most definitely be a five-star read, but nevertheless, it is still readable and very much enjoyable for anyone who loves a supernatural detective story.

Olivia Cult is a very interesting character. She’s quirky and snarky and can get mean and tough when she needs to be. Her friends are fun and silly at times. The world building is pretty good, with many mythical creatures. Overall, I think this book will have a wide appeal amongst young adult readers.
