Simply Stoic: Ancient Wisdom for Contemporary Chaos by M. Patsais is an excellent book on the great Stoic philosophers. The author explained what Stoicism is, its origin, and its history. Stoicism is built on the foundation of powerhouse ideas that blend with practical wisdom and a dash of levity. Stoicism includes virtue as happiness (courage, temperance, justice, and wisdom), control of what you can, and mind over matter. He introduced us to eight famous philosophers. He explained how these philosophers started, from their upbringing to their death. He described each of them, their beliefs, their impact on modern life, and their popularity throughout history. He stated quotes from each philosopher that resonated with their core beliefs. The great philosophers included Zeno of Citium, Cleanthes, Hecato of Rhodes, Cato, Seneca, Musonius Rufus, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius. I love and live by Stoicism and enjoyed every aspect of this book. It was a great read, and knowing a few women were involved with Stoicism was interesting. I loved the illustrations. The book was complete and can act as a resource for keepsakes.

I recently picked up this book, and I have to say, it was a surprisingly enjoyable read. I was initially hesitant, thinking Stoicism might be all dry philosophy and stuffy old men. But Patsias has a way of making it really accessible and even a bit fun. Instead of just throwing a bunch of complicated ideas at you, she introduces you to some of the most famous Stoics throughout history, like Marcus Aurelius and Seneca. She tells their stories in a way that's both engaging and insightful. You learn about their lives, their struggles, and how they applied Stoic principles to overcome challenges. And the best part? She translates those ancient ideas into modern-day situations. For example, she talks about how the Stoics emphasized focusing on what you can control and letting go of what you can't, which is something we all struggle with today in our fast-paced world. This book is a great introduction to Stoicism. It's not overly academic, and it actually leaves you feeling inspired to apply these ancient wisdoms to your own life. I definitely recommend it if you're curious about Stoicism but don't know where to start.
